CaBOK (Amlodipine Besylate) is a dihydropyridine derivative with chemical name 3-ethyl 5-methyl 2-(2-aminoethoxymethyl) -4-(2-
chlorophenyl)-1,4-dihydro- 6-methyl-3. 5-pyridine dicarboxylate benzene sulphonate.
Uses / Indications
Amlodipine is indicated for the first line treatment of hypertension and can be used as a sole agent to control blood pressure in the majority of patients. Amlodipine can also be used in combination with thiazide diuretics, beta-blockers or ACE Inhibitors.
Amlodipine is also indicated for the first line treatment of myocardial ischaemia whether due to fixed obstruction (stable angina) and or vasospasm /vasoconstriction (Prizmetal’s or variant angina) of coronary vasculature. Amlodipine may be used alone as monotherapy, or in combiation with other antianginal drugs in patients with angina that is refactory to nitrates and/or adequate doses of beta- blockers.
